Emile Doucette

Q&A with Emile Doucette

What’s the best thing about being an editor?
Putting music, visuals, and an idea together to make something fresh. And the flexible hours!
When you need to reset creatively, what’s your go-to hobby or activity?
I don’t reset. Creativity is something that exponentially expands. I just continue to ride the wave.
How do you handle feedback or changes during the editing process?
It's all liquid until it's locked, so I don’t sweat it. Ultimately, I think most feedback is an opportunity to get more time with the edit, which is always a good thing.
What’s something people might be surprised to know about you?
I like to edit on my laptop. Helps me stay on top of overall composition, and it keeps a project from feeling daunting when I can hold it in the palm of my hands. Forcibly.

What do you get when you cross an agency creative, a musician, a director and an editor? We don’t know but it’s probably going to end up looking a lot like Emile Doucette.

Emile spent years winning pitches with his ideas and edit skills at an ad agency. Going on to cut National spots for international brands, winning multiple awards and cutting spots for Superbowls. With the desire to expand his creative acumen, Emile set out on his own, cutting spots for Acura, Honda and music videos for Sabrina Carpenter, Snoop Dogg, and others.

“When I cut, I focus on style, rhythm, and clarity. It’s about finding the strongest idea, then building around it with intention. I like edits that hit. That carry a little attitude. That move.”
